blog (n): an online [journal]; a personal chronological log of thoughts published on a webpage; also called Weblog or web log.
Blogs, as most social phenomena do, evoke different feelings for different people. I confess that for awhile, I belonged to the school of thought that dismissed these things as merely spaces for petty insignificant rabble. Whether that rabble manifested itself in the form of teenage angst, collegiate frustration, politically-driven ranting, or speculation about Halo 3 was irrelevant. I just wasn’t interested.
However, I recently had a paradigm shift.
I’ve started to see value in the opportunity to unpack thoughts and share experiences with a greater community. The next step is learning to love writing as much as I do talking; thus, moving away from total dependency on verbal processing. That could take some time.
Now reader, if you’re still even here, please don’t assume that the remainder of the posts on this blog will simply be diatribes of the form itself–as these first paragraphs would suggest. Rather, see this initial analysis as two things.
- Satirical at best. (As a mild reflection of my personality)
- An introductory framework to my experiment with a new form of processing.
To make the remainder of this post a little more concrete and a little less literary. Please allow me to expand on said reference to “framework” with a little bit of context.
I graduated from James Madison University in May 2007 with a BA in English. I now live in Charlottesville, VA and, for the next nine months, will be participating in a post-collegiate leadership development program created and nurtured by Trinity Presbyterian Church (PCA).

My hope for this space is that it become a place to share my feelings and experiences openly with whoever stumbles into it. This truly is an experiment. As noted by the sentiments expressed earlier, I had no use for anything like this, but now I’m finding myself drawn more and more to its benefits and amenities.
So reader, whether you are family, friend, or Fellow you are welcome to this place. I hope and even pray that my musings and ramblings don’t escalate into anything that would drive you away, and that you would know that any questions, comments, or otherwise expressed sentiment is both welcomed an encouraged.
This journey, at its core, is about the Gospel, and how it both engages and changes the world one day at a time.
Welcome.
